:: History of the College ::
In the years 1972, a small band of progressive agriculturalists led by
Thiru. T.N. Palanisamy, Thiru. V.K. Lakshmanan and Thiru. M. Aruchami - strong adherents to the principles of Swami Vivekananda and Mahatma Gandhi, set out to start a College with a difference.
Their lofty purpose so deeply inspired 16,000 agriculturalists, that they voluntarily
came forward and contributed 2 years of dividend money from their savings towards the
initial corpus of the College. Texmo. Thiru. Ramaswami gave further shape to the dream
with his munificence as a principal donor. Dr. N.S. Palaniappan and Thiru. R. Somasundaram,
social minded men extended their dedicated support.
A tiny sapling planted on Saraswathi Pooja day on October 16, 1972 has now blossomed
into a "Kalpakavriksha" sheltering all true seekers of knowledge. The journey of 30 years,
from a very humble Pre-University College in 1973 to a full-fledged Institution of Post
Graduate and Research in 2005 has been an exciting journey of academic exploration and accomplishment.
We offer our solemn tributes to all the men and women who have toiled to make this
Institution what it is today and Pledge to continue to deliver the best educational
experience bonded with Character, Culture and Traditional values.
